I’ve heard this tip before, but never used it myself until this week: use text-to-speech software to read your work to you. Any typos jump out at you. This has worked so well that I have developed a crush on the text-to-speech voice lady.

In writing my novel REGULATION 19, I often name gave my minor characters similar first names or identical last names without realizing it. The solution: keep a character list!
